This course is especially designed to get young indoor leaders (NICAS level 4) outside sport climbing. This introduction to sport climbing course will be a fun day out and will give both parent and young climber the skills they need to start sport climbing outside. I am running these courses on behalf of the BMC and more information can be found on their website.

 

 

 

 

The Course

To become an under 18 outdoor sport climber
Prerequisites – Leading confidently inside and be 11-17 years old
Cost – £50 (10:00-17:00)

  • Intro to outdoor sport climbing gear
  • Bolt identification
  • Re-threading different lower off’s
  • The difference between outdoor and indoor climbing movement
  • Outdoor sport climbing lead belaying
  • Lead climbing
  • Clipping bolts
  • Safe guarding
  • Retreating from routes
  • Guide book interpretation
  • Crag etiquette
