Do you want to learn how to lead climb for free?

I run national governing body assessments for potential new Climbing Wall Development Instructors (CWDI) and I need mock students for them to teach. As a mock student you will be involved in a free ‘Learn to lead’ course run by a candidate who is being assessed.

Your free learn to lead:

Venue – The Boardroom Climbing, CH5 2DH
- You are responsible for paying your own wall entry and kit hire
Time – 09:30 – 15:30 (The exact time of your course may vary, please contact me for times)
Course content –
- Effective belaying
- Clipping
- Appropriate route choice
- Communication
- Falling and holding falls
- Lowering
All kit can be hired
It is not guaranteed that you will be able to lead climb independently by the end of the course

Prerequisites:

Ability to Top Rope belay
Ability to climb 5+ on Top Ropes

The potential new instructors have to demonstrate they can run a safe, fun and progressive course that is delivered at the correct level for the ‘mock students’ they have. The course with mock students will be closely monitored by myself to insure a safe course is being delivered.

The candidates will be assessed on all aspects of the Climbing Wall Development Instructors (CWDI) qualification, including their technical competence, problem avoidance, coaching, rescues, teaching ability and structuring of courses.
